"Sometimes you need to see your homeland from the outside and feel homesick a little to fall back in love with it" - says one of the heavenly beautiful and architectural-perfect Villa Extramuros co-owners, François, and I couldn't agree more. Yes, you got it right - he's French and he used to live in Paris but for more than six years now, François is sharing his passion for Portugal, it's landscape, people, food and, of course, architecture, with the international guests of the breathtaking luxury boutique villa in Arraiolos, Portugal.
Everything is perfect up here. Evening sunlight shines through the massive windows reflecting on the modern style artworks on the white asymmetrical walls and suddenly I feel like having a glass of the village's finest wine at one of those Palm Spring houses, but when you take a closer look - it's something rather French about this villa, really. François says that this modern home vision was brought straight from his apartment in Paris and was re-created here at Villa Extramuros by the owners themselves. Well, it's a truly unique experience which gives you a feeling of living at your own private, organised but oh so homey gallery space.
What a magical place to be, a stylish getaway just an hour's drive away from Lisbon and few minutes away from Arraiolos village. I could picture myself living here forever and ever. Who's with me?
